While some manufacturers are busy doing facelifts of their previous models and thinking of more premium offerings, Audi is all the way to making electric supercar concepts a reality. At the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, 2018 Audi revealed the aptly named PB18 that thrilled the audience. The journalists and enthusiasts found themselves experiencing a futuristic car concept that runs on electricity. This is the e-Tron EV from Audi, and it is very powerful.
What is the variable cockpit all about?
It is the most exciting thing about this new electric supercar. The design chief wanted to give their customers a front row of driving a race car and flying a jet at the same time. This made them offer an option to shift the steering and controls of the driver, including the seat to the center of the car. The car was supposedly a successor to the R8 that already has a dominating design among sporty cars and performance-driven cars in the market.
The e-Tron EV looks distinct and bold. All sharp lines, angular body, front grille, rear and front headlamps are fantastic looking. The deep and large air intake ducts on the sides make it look prominent and distinct. One can quickly recognize the model just by the looks, and that is not all. The aggressive looking vehicle is tipped to replace the second generation R8, which is the first combined effort from the joint venture between the Audi Design Loft California and their Germany Audi Sports team. What you get as an output is an ultra supercar concept. Though it is still a concept, it has already received a lot of love from their Audi’s fans.
Now, it has been called a supercar not because of its looks or price tag, but because of its 760 bhp beast under the hood. They have resorted to the latest in solid-state technology for the battery pack to keep the weight factor, low and improve the packaging of its upcoming e-Tron models. Yes, you heard that right. If the design and the production are going to take off, a few models are planned, and it would be still worth to mention that they are all going to be EV, totally.
In fact, the four-wheel drive is touted to weigh less than 1550 kg, despite all the looks and chassis. The design and build quality are supposed to be at par to make it really work and offer the durability to withstand the claims. Together with aluminum, plastic composite, carbon fiber and other materials, the PB18 was an unmatched surprise to cherish at the motor show. It was all new and gorgeous to look at.
The design is so subtle without overdoing anything and is yet so much different and refreshing. It is bold and beautiful. The future-thinking design is all about being simple lines, sharp angles, smooth curves and plenty of eyes to turn. If you really love sports looks, you need to research more about this exciting new model. Let us know about your findings too, and we will update this post with it. More details are to be revealed very soon in the near future.
