The G29 is the 6th generation twin-seater from the Z series from BMW. It was made official at Pebble Beach 2018 Concours d Elegance. This car reveals the idea what two major corporations Toyota and BMW had been jointly working together for a long time. The design cues can be seen throughout the body with a sporty look but less aggressive lines on the body. It is much more conserved, but dominant. The front and rear are both distinctive and blends well with the sides.
Let's take the same comparison to the E89, shall we?
There are a few striking differences. Let’s start with the front grill that stands right out of the box. This introduces small, subtle parallel lines on the sides while the rear and front are nothing striking. Meaning, they are seen as opposed to the sporty look of the above model. It still has that traditional feel to it; with subtle modern looks when you see it from the sides, and many would even welcome that and many would find it prettier while the sporty look of G29 would enchant the youngsters more. With the E89’s swooping lines, kidney grills, angelic lights, a flowing hood it would be a perfect drive in style to your work.
The G29 is a lot flatter and wider, preserves angular and sharp lines, something you would prefer to take to college. It looks like a roadster of the modern era and goes down quite well. Now, this trend continues all the way to the inside as well. The interiors too look improved with the G29 sporting a much higher contrast, all around, sharper lines in comparison to the smooth, curvy and conservative E89’s interiors. For most parts, it feels cleaner and simpler. The G29 is more like metal while the E89 is more plastic-y. One goes with the classic looks, while the other goes well with a sportier adaptation from 2019.
So, you can understand that though they are very similar twin-seater and the latest Z4 series, they are for quite different audiences. If you can, do spend some time browsing the pictures from various blogs to find out what I’m talking about.
The design cues of BMW Z4 M40i have been the ongoing trend now. And, that forms the base for the G29. You can learn more about the engine, the design, the performance very soon as more details are out. For now, these are all from the book and first look. New Z4 won’t hit the road until the spring 2019 so there is a lot of time to decide which one to go for. There are going to be limited edition models as well, so if you are into them, keep a watch.
One of the striking features of this G29 Z4 is that it is supposed to come with the most powerful B58 engine inside a Z4. This is also exciting because this makes it really lightweight so much so to take you from 0 to 60 mph in under 4.4 seconds.
